Julayne M. Lazar
Julayne has focused her twenty year law career exclusively on employment and labor law, holding a variety of positions at both public and private entities. Julayne credits her first position as a lawyer at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination with further fueling her passion for employment discrimination litigation; this experience provided Julayne with first-hand knowledge of the Commission’s regulations and best practices which she utilizes on a daily basis on behalf of her clients. Julayne was recruited from this position and also worked as an associate at a Boston law firm.
Julayne has also held a number of positions in labor relations, including as a Director at a state agency where she improved union relations, oversaw the grievance process, and managed all employment and labor litigation. Prior to joining Foley & Foley, Julayne was Associate Director of Employee & Labor Relations at a major Boston trauma center, where she managed all employment litigation and HR policies and practices and assisted the nursing division with all labor matters, including bargaining. In this capacity, Julayne served as subject-matter expert to all of HR and management and provided practical advice on all aspects of the employee life cycle.
Julayne also has a passion for helping organizations achieve their diversity goals in the workplace. Julayne has been certified as a Senior Diversity Trainer by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is a graduate of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination’s Train the Trainer course.
Julayne’s broad background has provided her with a full-range of employment and labor skills to address issues faced by today’s employers. When proactive measures are not successful, Julayne has proven to be a skilled litigator on behalf of her clients.
