Interview Process and Appropriate Questions

Did you know that discrimination laws can apply to applicants too? This course will provide the roadmap for appropriate questions, notetaking, recordkeeping and how to ensure decisions are based on qualifications and not on a protected class. We’ll also go over appropriate testing under the ADA.

Job Descriptions and Postings

Job descriptions are in many cases a legal document. These documents set appropriate expectations for the employee, determine whether or not the position is appropriately classified, and list out essential functions for ADA accommodation purposes. We’ll discuss what to include and what not to include and appropriate comprehensive language to protect the company in future.

Criminal Background Checks

Similar to marijuana laws, this is highly state-specific and violations can be extreme. This course will provide an overview of laws and compliance issues to be aware of and limitations under the FCRA.

Preemployment Drug Screening

This will provide an overview of what you can and cannot screen in pre employment drug screen and how to manage applicants and offers that show up positive. We’ll also discuss the legal implications for medical marijuana.

I-9 Compliance

The I-9 is one of the most important and sensitive documents that Human Resources maintains. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the form, how to use E-Verify, record retention, and common mistakes.

Onboarding

How do you get an employee properly onboarded and ensure you have all the information you need form them? We’ll discuss the process of onboarding from a requisition to the first day of hire and orientation. The course will go over legal implications and best practices
