Gregory Paal advises employers on regulatory compliance, contract matters and employment-related litigation. Greg has worked with employers both large and small to meet a variety of challenges, including implementing overtime and leave policies, drafting employment agreements and privacy policies, and resolving discrimination complaints. Greg has secured favorable outcomes for clients before the EEOC and state EEO commissions, including the MCAD. As the firm’s Practice Leader for Employment- and Business-Related Agreements, Greg prioritizes functional, clear, practical agreements that effectively manage risk and accomplish the client’s goals.
Greg is also a part of the firm’s Fractional General Counsel service, where he leverages his experience in mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance to deliver on the client’s business objectives. He is also a certified CIPP/US privacy professional with a deep knowledge of U.S. data privacy laws and data security challenges.
Prior to joining Foley & Foley, Greg worked at a boutique Boston law firm where he served as outside counsel to a variety of client companies, developed guidance on changes to the legal landscape and secured favorable outcomes for his clients through negotiation and litigation. Greg’s law school experience included internships for the Offices of the General Counsel for two of Massachusetts’ largest employers, as well as internships with the U.S. Department of Labor and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. His experiences on both sides of regulatory enforcement have enhanced his skills in resolving compliance challenges. Greg graduated from Northeastern University School of Law with concentrations in labor and employment law, privacy law and health law.
Prior to law school, Greg managed his family’s small business for more than six years. He uses that experience to meet clients where they are and to find practical solutions that fit the needs and values of their business.
