It’s 11:00 a.m.: Do You Know Where Your Employees Are?*

Let’s face it: When COVID originally hit, few of us knew how long and how profound its impact would be. Heck, people left their coffee cups on their desk at our place (no judgement)! But now, remote or hybrid work is here to stay and we are seeing more and more issues that can be avoided. Here are just a few:

  • Do you actually know where everyone is located? Have you unwittingly established a nexus in a state where you are not following its laws? Or a municipality?
  • Is the decision to allow remote work made evenly and with documentation?
  • Do you have a remote work policy to ensure your business is in compliance with federal, state and local laws?
  • Are expectations about the work day and the environment clearly stated?
  • Have you integrated remote or hybrid work as a reasonable accommodation under the ADA? Do you have an ADA policy?

If you have employees who work remotely full or part time, it is essential to have documentation and policies in place. We have crafted a fixed fee Remote Work Compliance Toolkit to avoid issues and implement companywide practices. Perhaps your workforce has been remote for some time but you are without a system to track employees’ whereabouts and to uniformly communicate expectations. Thoughtful communication, authorization forms, a checklist to follow and understandable policies are essential. It does not have to be difficult or costly: this Toolkit is a roadmap for your business to follow.

Start off 2022 in good shape, easily. We can help.

*(This is not a post about spying on employees. If you have to spy, or think you do, we can have that conversation.)
