New in 2022: Mental Health Becomes a Campaign Topic

Whether you are a student of politics (nerd) or just a casual reader of the news, you might have noticed a new topic on the campaign trail: mental health. Both sides of the aisle addressed the topic, from lip service to actual programs that aim to address the mental health epidemic in the US.

In June, even Congress enacted a bi-partisan bill,  which reauthorizes funds through FY2027, expands and modifies programs, grants, and activities that focus on mental and behavioral health. Many states have done the same. The problem is so pervasive on so many levels, it cannot be ignored.

We all know COVID did not help. We all know kids have been disproportionally impacted by a lack of mental health resources. Their parents are in your workplace.  Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is on the rise, another face of mental health. What can your workplace do to assist employees with mental health issues or families in a mental health crisis?

The core of a best practice is a system, applied equally, in your workplace. Mental health and SUD are tricky areas, requiring confidentiality, discretion and sensitivity. We can help here. We have developed a fixed fee solution: the Employee Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Toolkit. We provide flow charts, necessary forms, medical provider letters, return to work agreement and a framework to handle this pressing issue. Why not set up an easy to access process for this demanding workplace issue?  Contact us.
