Yes, EEO-1 Reporting Season Just Opened.

WHAT? The 2024 EEO-1 data collection on the portal is now open. The EEO-1 Component Report is a mandatory annual workforce data collection. The data is used to enforce anti-discrimination laws, which could be in the form of investigations and law suits.

WHO files? All private sector employers with 100 or more employees, and federal contractors with 50 or more employees and a federal contract or subcontract of $50,000 or more, must submit workforce demographic data including data by job category, sex and race or ethnicity.

HUH??? Didn’t an Executive Order kill that requirement for federal contractors? Yes but the regulation requiring the filing for federal contractors with 50-99 employees is still on the books. It is a legal limbo zone and a chat with an employment lawyer might be called for before skipping it.

WHEN? Between now and June 24, 2025 is the filing period.

HOW?

  • Select your pay period–one between 10/1/24 and 12/31/24– as your snapshot. Do NOT use old data.
  • The 2024 Instruction Booklet on categorizing job categories and all filing requirements is here.
  • The EEO-1 Data Collection website is here.
  • Remote workers location: where they report or where their supervisor is based or, if neither applies, the location of the remote worker can be used.
  • Don’t miss the deadline.

BOTTOM LINE: This report is mandatory. The regulations and requirements remain unchanged by law.
